About Joseph Gent

I've been fortunate to gain a plethora of leadership experience from both outside and inside the field of education. Previous to working these past 12 years as a district-level administrator, I spent over ten years as a United States Marine Corps Officer. I have spent my entire adult life in leadership roles within the Boy Scouts of America, my church, community, and profession. It is my belief the best leaders are focused on serving those under their tutelage, keeping high expectations, and holding individuals, teams, and themselves accountable for their actions. Effective leaders are also kind, consistent, honest, and patient when necessary. I have found the pursuit and cultivation of these character traits to be of the utmost value in my quest for exceptional teaching and leadership. As a disabled veteran, I've gleaned the knowledge and understanding which accompanies the successful navigation of life-altering challenges. Instead of limiting me, my "disabling conditions" have propelled me to greater depths of compassion, patience, and empathy. These attributes have advanced my communication skills and shaped me into a better leader and teacher. Embracing a growth mindset, work ethic, zeal for education, scholarship, and leadership, I strive always to excel professionally and personally.
