About Joseph Gronczewski

As a Special Agent with the Federal Bureau of Investigation for more than 25 years, I have conducted numerous white-collar and cyber-crime investigations involving bank, wire, and mail fraud, money laundering, cyber-attacks, and phishing schemes. Over the last fourteen years, I have conducted numerous digital forensic examinations while assigned to the New Jersey Regional Computer Forensic Laboratory (NJRCFL) supporting diverse state and federal criminal matters. The NJRCFL is an accredited digital forensics laboratory responsible for performing impartial digital forensic examinations for law enforcement and their prosecutorial counterparts in support of criminal investigations including intellectual property, terrorism, financial matters, crimes against children, cyber-crime, and violent crimes. As a recognized leader in the lab, I am currently the acting Supervisory Special Agent and Laboratory Director, as well as continuing to be a trainer/mentor for laboratory personnel. I am an integral contributor in the development and evolution of technical policies and protocols as these require updates to address changes in laws and/or technologies. I am highly skilled at communications across functions and managerial levels, ensuring collected evidence is analyzed and clearly understood by investigators and prosecutors. I also provide expert witness testimony. I am adept at reviewing legal documentation and working with prosecutors to interpret digital artifacts in respect to the law. As a forensic examiner in a cross-agency organization, I perform strongly in a task force environment and managing both planned as well as unplanned triage situations and managing the workforce in these situations.
