About Joseph K. Williams

Having 25 years experience using PTC's computer-aided-design software CREO formerly Pro/ENGINEER my design experience is to take both a front and rear end approach when it comes to designing for manufacturing or assembly. Front meaning understanding the software and how to use it in both solid and surfacing modeling.(DFMP) Design for Manufacturing Processes (such as plastic injection mold, investment, sand and other processes forgings, sheet metal stamping, machining, etc.) I am confident and efficient in creating difficult parts and assemblies having skill sets' in surfacing, complex drafted features, complex filleting, sheet metal, simplified reps, mechanism models, design of sheet metal components, knowledge of cabling and harness designs and large assembly management using top down assembly methods. My Design for Assembly (DFA) experience comes from designing parts that are easy and efficient to assemble correctly, difficult to assemble incorrectly. I am experienced in the working knowledge of CAD data management using the industry standard PTC's Windchill/PDM Link having a thorough understanding of drawing revision control, promoting component, sub-assembly, and assembly ECN's. Having the confidence, control, and reasonability to work with such large data sets, all which are necessary front-end design skill-sets. My rear end approach requires me have the ability to create detailed and finalized engineering drawings with the necessary views such as orthographic projection, section, detail, exploded, and auxiliary views of components and assemblies. I have knowledge in GD & T receiving training in both the fundamentals and advanced GD & T by Applied Geometrics Inc. Demonstrated the ability to develop drawings for prototype or manufacturing. Have executed clean sheet drawing datum structures and dimensioning schemes. Understanding how GD & T callouts can communicate design function on multi-sheet drawings. Demonstrated strong verbal and communication skills I have had the opportunity to work with multiple departments along with specific vendors in bringing products from start to end of the product design process.
