About Joseph Lawless

After graduating university with a first class degree I began my career as an Anaesthetic Operating Department Practitioner at Derriford Hospital. Where I worked in a range of elective and emergency surgical specialities including neurology, orthopaedics, trauma, vascular, general, gynaecology, interventional radiology and outside areas. I was also a member of the preceptorship council attending meetings to improve the preceptorship program for future cohorts. Having consolidated my skills after almost 2 and a half years I moved to Harefield hospital to work on anaesthetics, in the more specialised field of cardiothoracics. I have an interest in digital health and have become a lead digital champion for the implementation of EPIC software in the operating theatres at Harefield. I have also attended the trusts Healthcare Management Programme. Last September I attended the Healthcare Excellence Through Technology conference and I am a member of the Digital health network attending webinars as a part of this.I have just finished my MSc in Digital Health. During this I studied units including; Introduction to programming in Python, Introduction to artificial intelligence, Data modelling and analytics in health, Responsible innovation and research methods in digital health, Sensing Technologies for diagnostics and monitoring, Digital Health Case studies, Introduction to epidemiology and statistics and Applied statistics. I am a member of the Learn 2 Innovate program which involves working with students from other universities to innovate and develop a digital health intervention.
