About Joseph M. Webb

I am a retired law enforcement officer of the Chicago Police Department first and foremost. My twenty six year career has been very rewarding and I am proud of my work. Early on I had a great opportunity to work with a partner who had a great work ehic. This enabled us to recover many stolen cars, numerous firearms, and conduct felony arrests in the 011th District on Chicago’s West side. I moved onto the Department’s Office of Management Accountability in early 2002. There under the supervision of Deputy Superintendent, I conducted internal investigations of the district management crime SOP's and made recommendations on my findings. This was a new venture for the Chicago Police Department, and I am grateful to have been a part of it. I was requested by the Bureau of Internal Affairs in 2007 to assist with a major lawsuit the City of Chicago was facing involving the release of Department disciplinary data. There, I had some unique experiences involving the FBI, wiretaps, consent to overhear, and covert surveillance. This training assisted me in my own case load involving department members. I was requested by a supervisor to transfer to the Departments Information Services Division to assist with queries from the Department Of Justice and City Inspector General’s Office. This was a segway to the Department coming under a consent decree with the State of Illinois Attorney General Office. Although my street time has diminished, my problem solving skills and liaison expertise has grown. The Department's technology division has opened up a new career path for me. I am now working for Eagle Harbor as a Crime Gun Intelligence Coordinator for the Bureau of Alcohol Tobacco Firearms and Explosives. I maintain a healthy work life balance which has not always been easy. I get away by sailing on board my boat with my family as often as the seasons allow.
