About Joseph McCafferty

I currently work in the NHS as an Advanced Cardiac Clinical Physiologist. I have over 10 years experience working in a cardio-respiratory background as an Associate Practitioner, and also an Assistant Technical officer. I achieved a 1st class honours in my cardiac physiology apprenticeship at MMU and I am a member of the BHRS and working towards an accreditation in device management and also am a AHCS member. My current role involves PPM/ILR implants, PCI, coronary Angiography, complex Lung Function testing, ECG analysis, 12 Lead ECG reporting, and PPM follow up. I am also the clinical lead in training/sign offs for HCAs and nurses trust wide in performing 12 Lead ECGs, and have recently set up and completed a paperless ECG work flow, to allow ECG analysis reports and 12 lead ECG report’s to transmit remotely once completed to hospital systems. Previously I have completed my SCST foundation certification and practical assessment and also a Healthcare Science (physiology) Foundation degree which I achieved distinction in. I also have a lot of involvement with education and development of junior physiologists and create regular material for them to develop their skills.
