About Joseph Mercieca

Hi, programming for me has become a very integral piece in my life. This passion started when I was very young and I played video games. The game by itself were fun but trying to figure out how they actually worked was ecstatic for me. This fascination was then fueled when I acquired my first computer. I used to go through settings (even the bios) and checking what these settings can do. That gave me the last push to pursue computing as a subject. Here I got my first taste of the programming, using PASCAL. The thought that I had the power to create something using words was beginning of my love for programming. Through the years I have then studied Java and C# alongside others. My true love of programming is in the back office, where most of the logic occurs. My first programming job was with RS2 as a back office support developer. My job was to look at the defects the clients have raised and fix them. It was a job that is dear to my heart. One of the major tasks at the beginning was to learn PL/SQL but with some practice that was achieved in a shorter time span than I had anticipated. Since this was my first job I was a bit overwhelmed at first but the developers at RS2 made sure that I felt like home. They have also taught me some skills and techniques that I will keep close to my heart and eventually apply them in future jobs in my life.
