About Joseph Muhere

Joseph is the Enterprise Business Director for Airtel Tanzania and forms part of Airtel Tanzania Executive Team (ExCo). Throughout his career, he has earned the trust of several national and international companies and maintained strong relationships in the industry. He bring 12+ years of experience in the telecom industry, achieving sales targets while generating repeat business. Before joining Airtel Joseph served as Director of Sales & Operations, East Africa for Silensec Limited, an ISO27001 Certified Information Security multinational firm currently serving large organisations, international firms and national agencies across 3 continents and more than 30 countries worldwide. Joseph was responsible for the development of Silensec client base and managing business operations across the East Africa region. Prior to this position Joseph worked as Chief Commercial Officer (CCO) of Raha Liquid Telecom Tanzania, the largest ISP of Tanzania and seated on Liquid Tanzania Executive Committee (ExCo). Between 2020 and 2021 he delivered Y-O-Y growth in excess of 6% and successfully spearheading the first retrenchment ever performed by Raha Liquid Telecom which led to a very succesful year since its inception. Joseph started his career at Zanzibar Telecom in 2011 where he joined as an Account Manager. He left the company in 2015 covering the position of Strategic Accounts Manager. At Zanzibar Telecom Joseph started and built the first sizeable client base of the company responsible for yearly revenues. In light of his sales performance Joseph repeatedly received the award of “exceptional employee of the year” for the years 2012, 2013 and 2014. In 2015 Joseph was hired by Vodacom Tanzania were he served as Head of Enterprise Sales at Vodacom Tanzania; in particular he restructured and transformed the Enterprise Sales Department of the company. In Vodacom Tanzania he hired, trained and mentored the Enterprise Unit Sales Team in order to respond to the disruption produced by international competitors. From 2018 to 2020 Joseph managed to increase the department Y-O-Y growth from 11% to 18% out of the assigned service revenue targets. In August 2022 Joseph was hired by Airtel Tanzania PLC to drive the business development of the second largest telecommunication company in the country with the fastest growing strategy to take leadership of the Enterprise Business Unit.
