About Joseph Neilson

I have worked all around the world and have seen how other countries view Safety Culture. It is an ongoing process even in developing countries. My career in Safety started when I was 19 and in the military. I asked a simple question after a tragic incident. It was "Why?" Why did this happen and what could be done differently? I have taken this question and tried to answer it ever since. Sometimes it is an easy fix and at times entire programs need to be revamped. Sometimes it comes from knowing that there's a difference between correct and preventative actions. Sometimes it takes changes in the behavior of those with boots on the ground or in those who make the decisions. Sometimes it is all of these. I feel one of my greatest achievements is helping 2 subcontractor companies with most of their employees from third world countries by education, demonstration, and caring go 2 years without a recordable injury or MVI. I feel that this is possible anywhere and everywhere that you have Safety minded companies.
