About Joseph Peacock

I am an attorney with diverse experience in transactional practice, litigation, business management, analytics, and technology. I did not take the "K-through-JD" path to law school, and I have an unusual résumé for an attorney, but the breadth of my experience has been fundamental to my success as a lawyer. Prior to returning to school to complete my Bachelor's degree and then my JD, I was an entrepreneurial web developer with a successful small business for a decade. When I returned to school, I committed myself to it as a second career, earning a BS in biological sciences, while contributing in a microbial ecology laboratory, where I could apply my technical and analytical skills to evaluate complex genetic data. I contributed to several publications in my time as an undergraduate. When I started law school, there was a lot of talk about learning to "think like a lawyer," but no one was ever able to explain what that would mean. What I found is that the thought processes involved in computer programming, scientific analysis, and legal reasoning are all very similar. Each comes down to a rigorous application of logic and reason and an attention to detail. My prior experiences had already primed me for a legal career.
