About Joseph Pechie

I am a graduate of the State University College at Brockport with a master’s degree in adolescent social studies education with a grade 7-12 student with disabilities extension in 2015 as well as graduated from St. Bonaventure University in 2012 with a bachelors degree in history and will be initially certified to teach social studies grades 5-12 and special education grades 7-12 in the state of New York. I am seeking a full time teaching position in either a middle school or high school environment. I truly believe that all students, when given the opportunity, can succeed and become successful. With the guidance of caring and nurturing teachers, the possibilities are endless. I feel as educators, we hold a very important key that can either enable or hinder our students. It's our responsibiliteis as teachers to provide the tools, skills, and knowledge to succeed and adapt in an always changing world. My experiences as a substitute, tutor, and student teacher have afforded me the opportunity to interact with diverse student populations and engage them in learning. Using teaching methods that coincide with the Universal Design for Learning, including providing high-interest learning material, multiple means of assessment and instruction, as well as the careful modeling and scaffolding of new skills, I strive to ensure that every student achieves excellence. My interactions with ELL students have also prepared me for the challenges I will face in the classroom. Tutoring ELL students at the SUNY Brockport writing center has given me invaluable experience working and interacting with students who are learning the English language for the first time.
