About Joseph Pellam

When I was 18, I did something that I had wanted to do since the age of 8 when I started reading my Dad’s Naval themed history books that were always lying around the house. I joined the United States Navy as an Aviation Electronics Technician. During my ten years of active duty I must have wondered what the heck had I gotten myself into a few hundred times. But despite the long periods at sea (my longest period was 84 days, Aircraft Carriers are rarely idle), mental and physical fatigue, periods of extreme stress trying to avoid getting sucked into a jet engine or blown over the side into the sea, I persevered and became stronger and learned to be an effective leader in a work environment that required teamwork to stay safe and accomplish the mission at hand. I’m that person to this day. I am a strong leader and a huge advocate of teamwork. I currently work for a small software company in downtown Chicago leading the Support department and the best part of my job is getting to apply what I learned in the Navy and passing it on to my team members making better/stronger leaders of the future. I’m well-versed in negotiations, planning and development, relationship management, operations, and logistics coordination and scheduling.
