Background

About Joseph Preston

Growing up, I loved hearing stories that connected me to something greater than myself. Eventually, as I got older, I was able to see how everyone has a story to share and how by listening, I also grew as a person. This drive for stories as well as listening would lead me to grow as a human and begin my journey as a lifelong learner. I attribute my greatest wins in life to my caring nature which enables me to understand others and my desire to walk alongside them. Starting my career in Campus Ministry seemed like a mismatch at first given my B.A. in Communications. However, I immediately recognized the opportunity it offered for me to share the gifts I have been given and it allowed me to understand the most important part of any organization; the people. This odd combination led me to develop two attributes that help me thrive in any work environment, how to communicate effectively and how to show people you care. I have been privileged to work in higher education for the past ten years in leadership and it has taught me to value education and those I am on the journey with. You will find me discerning how to help others grow, working alongside colleagues to make well-thought-out decisions, and ensuring the transformational impact of my organization's mission and culture. I have so much more to learn in life and I can't wait to keep expanding my knowledge and personal growth.
