About Joseph Rivero

Currently I work for the continuing education division of North Orange County Community College District in there DSS classes with a gamut of students experiencing developmental disabilities from varying functioning levels possibly with cooccurring physical and mental health challenges. I support the faculty to achieve the student learning outcomes based on a need to know basis on the grounds of HIPPA and FERPA. I support the faculty by grading on the learning management system of Canvas, help them with assignments in class, and make sure the students can see the projector and there laptop in front of them. I just make sure the settings are best if they might be visually impaired. I also help the faculty when needed to guide the class if there is a substitute or if there is a Zmeeting. I graduated from California State University, Fullerton this past Spring 2022. I was one of the Event Planners for the Human Services Student Association (HSSA) where we worked with the Human Services department to create field work day for HUSR students to start there academic internship cycle. It was like an open house for them. We also did inclusive socials that were over Zoom for the fully online students for HSSA. I am a first Gen, EOPS, grad prep, and California Community College alumni privileged to attend both Fullerton College (fullcoll) and Santiago Canyon College (SCC). My first major was Computer Information Systems (CIS) with courses taken on Microsoft Office 2013, cybersecurity, operating systems, python programming, and wireless networking. I have completed the Student Success Certificate from the First Year Support Center (FYSC) at (SCC) and I have a certificate of appreciation from the (Fullcoll) Health Center for volunteering with them in the Spring 2019 semester. When I attended (SCC) I was part of there signature program of National Model United Nations (NMUN) where I learned transferable skills like public speaking, doing academic research, writing papers and impromptu speeches, negotiating and compromising, networking, leadership and working under pressure. I attended Sonora High School from 2010-2014 and was part of Environmental Awareness Club and participated in paper recycling. From 2013 to 2014 I was part of the Sonora PALS/IMPACT peer mentorship program and advised freshmen during their first year of high school. I also participated in Sonora Film Club and was part of a PSA and worked on advertising when films were going to be premiered by the club in The Little Theater. I also volunteered to help set up for the MECHA club dance.
