About Joseph Rocha

My story is a bit non-traditional. At the age of 18 you are expected to have a clear life plan and career path figured out, and I thought that I fit in those parameters. I went to college right out of high school with the intention to graduate with a Bachelor's Degree in Music Education (music being my primary passion since I was about 12 years old) and then hop into my career as a high-school music teacher. It was supposed to be a straight forward path that would leave me satisfied and set up for success in the real world. But things, as they usually do, don't necessarily go according to plan. Due to a bad mixture of health problems, my education was stunted and I had to leave college and temporarily stop my education and career goals. But my desire to continue learning, growing and develop myself did not go away. I got a job teaching music, part-time in 2012 at my old elementary school, which was great because I was in the desired field that I had dreamed of doing. And in between my work shifts I was gravitated to reading books about personal development and growth (the likes of John Maxwell, Napoleon Hill, Tony Robbins and more). The more I read the more I ventured into the world of entrepreneurship, and reading books from Gary Vaynerchuk, Dave Ramsey, Mike Michalowicz, Michael Hyatt, Jocko Willink, Seth Godin and many more great minds of business. Through reading these acclaimed authors I became enamored with the business world and found a secondary passion, business and entrepreneurship. The idea of creating something out of nothing, to be able to use my natural gifts and talents to serve people in my community was enticing. So in 2018, I took the leap to meld my two passions, music and business, together and Eager Studios was born! Owning a music lessons business is important to me. As a young musician, I never had an educational outlet to help me cultivate my skills (my community is not the most affluent around). I wanted to provide this opportunity for my community and help the future generations of musicians with a safe space to explore new musical concepts and really help them shine. This passion and serving mentality helped me to quickly grow my new business, in just 3 short years, to 6-figures. Growing a business takes a lot of patience, but also a desire to continue to grow. As John Maxwell states, every business has a lid, and that lid is the owner; a business can never out grow the owner. So in order to continue to serve our community, I must be the first to learn, grow and lead my team to achieve our collective goals.
