Barrister and Solicitor of the Supreme Court of Nigeria; International Arbitration Practitioner Joseph is a legal practitioner with extensive experience in arbitration and commercial litigation. His focus is on providing cutting edge strategies to resolve disputes in the areas of maritime, oil and gas, commercial contracts, construction, corporate, employment, debt recovery, bankruptcy/insolvency, and civil fraud/white collar crimes. He has acted as counsel in several international arbitrations and arbitral award enforcement proceedings, particularly in the maritime, energy, and oil and gas industries. He is also experienced in advising clients in relation to concession contracts, joint venture agreements, maritime asset acquisition, due diligence, and distressed situation deals. Joseph also has significant in-house experience, having led the legal and compliance team of Promax and Complant Holdings Limited, a Dubai International Financial Centre registered multinational investment consortium. Recent Experience: •Confidential parties: appointed by the Regional Centre for International Commercial Arbitration, as Sole Arbitrator over a multi-million dollar construction dispute over a real estate development project in Abuja, Nigeria. •Confidential client: acting as solicitor to a Nigerian maritime services company (Bare Boat Charterer) in a Barecon 2017 Bare Boat Charter Party Agreement, for the acquisition of two Greek flagged Motor Tankers from a Singaporean based Ship Owner. •Confidential client: Acted as counsel in a set aside proceedings of an ICC Arbitral Award rendered in Paris, France in relation to a JV dispute involving a Nigerian Upstream operator and its JV partner. •Confidential client: Acted as counsel a case pending at the Nigerian Court of Appeal for the enforcement of Cabotage Act and recovery of taxes and levies for a Federal Government Regulatory Agency in the Maritime Sector. •Confidential client: Acted as counsel in three separate but related Insolvency and Debt recovery proceedings at the Nigerian Federal High Court leading to recovery of US$250 million for a consortium of Nigerian Banks. •Confidential client: Acted as counsel to a Ship owner in an arbitration proceeding for the recovery of unpaid hire under a Master Time Charter Party Agreement.
