Property preservation can be a tricky thing between navigating the myriad of different GSE guidelines to understanding home construction. Thankfully, having over a decade in the business has awarded me with a genuinely unique perspective ranging from boots on the ground home repairs to working with top executives in the mortgage servicing world. Commonly I will note that those inquiring how complex the world of property management can be, with my most common quote being that "it's impossible to have boring days." Following the landfall of Hurricane Sandy I had worked with FEMA to help restore the Jersey Shore to its former luster, bringing the shore points back better than ever. While I initially signed up as a field monitor, documenting the status of the cleanup to state and federal officials, I quickly found my position elevated. Soon I found myself as the Data Manager for the north NJ clean-up effort, managing personnel and equipment at several clean-up sites as well as providing progress reports to government officials. While I was saddened for the program to end, my efforts to restore my home state didn't end, as I found myself working as a handyman. My start in property preservation was a humble one, beginning my career as a 3rd party contractor working on REO properties throughout the state. Being technologically focused in my prior position, I was quickly able to excel mapping out priority projects combining with efficient routing. History seems to have repeated itself, as I quickly propelled myself through the ranks. My efforts were quickly noticed as I had moved into vendor management working with contractors throughout the New England area. Eventually I found myself working in mortgage servicing, completing the cycle from submitting bids from the field, to managing personnel, to managing properties on behalf of mortgagees working with Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac, FHA, and the VA. Thankfully I have been able to become extremely accustomed to working with ICE's Director program, as well as all GSE preservation portals and especially affluent in Yardi's P260 web portal managing HUD properties. I strive myself on my attention to detail in my reporting and having the wealth of knowledge to pinpoint problem areas and divulge a plan of attack to resolve preservation issues of all size. Managing pre and post sale properties ranging from code violations, to loss analysis timelines, to full rehab via insurance claims, my time has served me well and lead to training positions everywhere I have had the pleasure to call my home away from home.
