About Joseph Surzyn

I am now a Geophysical Logging Engineer at European Geophysical Services (EGS): we specialise in conducting wireline borehole surveys, critical for the water, geotechnical, geoenvironmental, mining and exploration industries. My role extends beyond field work to encompass social media management and the creation of detailed 3D models for both client assets and in-house design projects.My foundation in the geosciences was built through prior experience as a Team Leader and Field Geologist at Aurum Exploration in Ireland, and before this an exploration geology role focused on early-stage gold projects in Nevada with Plethora PE. This practical experience is underpinned by an Integrated Masters in Geology from the University of Leicester, with a particular emphasis on mineral exploration and volcanology.I have undertaken extensive training at EGS, including Water Hygiene (EUSR & Thames), CSCS Managers & Professionals, Confined Space awareness, Manual Handling techniques, On and Off-road Driving proficiency, Radiological Supervision, and Asbestos Awareness.During my university years, I was President of the PCSB Geology Society for two consecutive years (2021-2022 and 2022-2023). My contributions were recognised through several awards during my time at university, including the Rhoda Bennett Prize for outstanding fieldwork (2021-2022), a Students' Union Special Recognition Award (2021-2022), and the Futsal Clubman of the Year award for two consecutive seasons (2021-2022 and 2022-2023).
