About Josephine Clark

Who I am and what I do: I am an experienced (10+ years) GIS analyst and ecologist working at the intersection of data, ecology, and policy. My focus is finding innovative and data driven solutions to complex cross-jurisdictional issues. I work hard to engage and inspire through effective and clear communication of technical information. I love to create genuine, meaningful working partnerships with others to advance common goals. As a life long learner, I am always looking to further my technical and other professional skills. I am a Registered Professional Biologist (RPBio) and Professional Project Manager (PMP). Professional Experience: In my work with Metro Vancouver as a Regional Environmental Planner, I support planners and others with data tools and information resources to advance ecological and climate goals in the region. I develop projects that meet short term needs while also building towards larger long-term goals. Some recent projects are listed below. Examples of recent projects: • Understanding status and threats to Metro Vancouver’s ecosystems (Sensitive Ecosystem Inventory) and their connectivity; • Working with UBC academics to develop high-resolution regional land cover data in order to map green infrastructure and ecosystem services • Developing regional ecological health indicators to provide ‘state of the environment’ information to support policy objectives. Including tree canopy cover, impervious surfaces, and connectivity. • Leading the development of tools and information to incorporate climate change into urban forest planning and management. I’m proud to say that together with Diamond Head Consulting, our team were awarded the Canadian Institute of Planning’s Award for Planning Excellence in 2019 for our work on the Urban Forest Climate Adaptation initiative! • Working on regional climate action planning with a focus on nature-based solutions to adaptation • Advancing sustainability in urban greenspaces via the Grow Green Guide website
