About Josh Arkey

At JALA Studio we create site-specific landscapes and gardens informed by Australia’s unique ecosystems and natural environment. Our projects can be found throughout eastern Australia, from private inner-city courtyards to sprawling regional properties. Drawing inspiration from art, design and architecture – at home and overseas – we work closely with clients to bring a personal aesthetic to each site, creating landscapes that celebrate individual identity while also evoking a strong sense of place. Dynamic, reflective and refined, we see the natural environment as an integral element of every home or property, and believe a harmonious garden should offer interest throughout the seasons and evolve over time as a living piece of art in the hands of each owner. We’re also committed to the ongoing health and prosperity of each location, sourcing local materials that will age reliably and support the long-term sustainability of everything we plant. At every step the tenets that underpin our work are durability, seasonality and ecological sensitivity.
