About Josh Berman

I currently serve as the Executive Director for Malvern Family Resource Centre, a multi-service agency providing a variety of programs and services to children, youth, families and seniors across North East Scarborough. We run EarlyOn programs to support our communities' youngest and their caregivers, middle years programs after-school and in the summer months, and youth programs that focus on community engagement, academic supports, equity and mental wellness. We also offer housing and health and wellness programming for women in crisis, newcomer programming and food security through our urban farm and community gardens. Finally we have a program of work focused on supports for racialized students and their families. Learn more at mfrc.org Previous to joining MFRC, I led the research, government relations and policy team at BGC Canada where I drove new child, youth and family policy and program development. I have led efforts to secure $18M in federal funding from 2020-2022 to create innovative and responsive programming for children and youth. I built and implemented municipal, provincial, and federal government relations and advocacy campaigns that led to employment, food security, child care, non-profit sector and anti-racism policy and program wins. I have engaged in strategic and annual planning processes with boards, teams, and community members, focused on organizational impact and growth, community engagement and rooted in social justice.
