About Josh Downes

I am a Geomatics professional in the Veris Hobart Survey Team with over 17 years experience in the Surveying / Spatial industry. I have spent over 12 years working on projects throughout Tasmania for clients such as the Department of State Growth (DSG), the Education Department, Tas Water, Hydro, Hobart Airport, Nyrstar, Rio Tinto, Aboriginal Heritage Tasmania (AHT) and various Local Councils. I also have extensive experience working on projects in South Australia, Victoria, New South Wales, Queensland, and the Northern Territory for various government departments. I have developed a specialized knowledge of laser scanning and photogrammetry, including the use of mobile scanners (such as the Riegl VMX250, VMX450 and VMX2HA as well as the Leica Pegasus mobile systems) and terrestrial scanners (such as the RTC360, P40, Faro, and Z&F). I am a certified drone operator with experience in capturing and processing drone and terrestrial imagery for reality meshes, orthophotos and visualizations. This experience includes everything from field capture, through processing, to final product delivery. I also have experience using the latest GNSS, total station, and differential levelling equipment. I have extensive experience in processing and managing large datasets and am experienced in data processing and drafting. This includes a thorough knowledge of Ri-Process, OpenRoad, Lieca Infinity, 12d Model, TopoDOT, Cyclone Register & 3DR, ContexCapture, and Microstation. as well as a working knowledge of ArcMap, QGIS, AutoCAD, ReCAP, FME, Metashape and various other high-end point registration, extraction and photogrammetric software packages.
