About Josh Grignon

My dream job? Spending all day reading and writing adventure stories! Unfortunately, I’m not quite imaginative or patient enough for that, so I opted for a university education instead. Along the way, I discovered my passion for urban geography research and knowledge translation. Currently, I’m a research scholar in the Department of Geography and Environment at Western University, focusing on urban resilience, climate adaptation, governance, and the role of public-private partnerships in strengthening cities. I hold a BA (Hons.) in Anthropology and Geography, an MA in Recreation and Leisure Studies, and an MPH in Public Health. To support my academic pursuits, I work as a Senior Technical Writer for Bell Canada on the Ontario Public Safety Radio Engineering team. Although my role isn’t directly tied to my studies, it has equipped me with valuable skills in project coordination, effective communication with diverse groups, and translating complex technical information into clear, actionable insights. I’m passionate about bridging theory and practice and promoting innovative, collaborative approaches to urban climate challenges. Beyond my studies and work, I volunteer with community health non-profits, assisting with IT, web design, program evaluation, and governance. I recently worked part-time with Greo, creating plain language research summaries on gambling harms reduction, and I'm about to begin a new volunteer role supporting climate change planning and adaptation initiatives with local governments in my community.
