About Josh Potocko

Dr. Potocko served in the U.S. Navy for 28 years prior to retiring in Nov 2022. He has studied aerospace engineering, flown high-performance Naval aircraft, deployed aboard aircraft carriers, and embedded with Marine helicopter squadrons as a Flight Surgeon. He served as Director of Public Health at Quantico during the COVID pandemic and then as the Occupational Medicine consultant to the Navy Surgeon General at BUMED. As the Chair of the Occ Med Working Group for the DoD, he led teams working on COVID Vaccination and Exemption Policy, the Red Hill fuel leak at Pearl Harbor, as well as the VA's Burn Pits and ILER programs. As a Flight Officer-turned-Aerospace & Occ Med physician with a Neuroscience background, he has substantial expertise in human performance, mishap investigation, causation analysis, toxicology, injury care, public health, and policy development. Currently he is splitting his time between academics, research, consulting, hobby farming (in Waimanalo, Hawaii), or recording with his band,"Joe Schwa and the Scarlet Lettermen" in New Orleans, Louisiana.
