Josh Sugarmann, a native of Newtown, Connecticut, is executive director of the Violence Policy Center (VPC), which he has headed since founding it in 1988 and directs all research and public education activities for the organization. Prior to establishing the VPC, Josh was a press officer in the national office of Amnesty International USA. Josh's articles and op-eds have appeared in numerous publications, including the New York Times, Washington Post, Wall Street Journal, Los Angeles Times, Mother Jones, Rolling Stone, The Nation, and Washington Monthly. He is also the author of two books,"NRA: Money, Firepower & Fear"(1992, National Press Books) and "Every Handgun is Aimed at You: The Case for Banning The New Press).
