About Joshua Armstrong

I am a high school teacher with over 12 years of teaching experience. I have several education-related positions. My primary position is teaching Social Sciences and coordinating Student Committee and Community Service at Pickering College. Formerly I was the English Department Head at Town Centre Private High School (TCPHS) in Markham, Ontario. I taught Night School with the TDSB and have taught summer school with the TDSB and The Bishop Strachan School. I am a member of the Ontario College of Teachers holding Intermediate/Senior Teaching Qualifications. My teachable subjects are History, English and Dramatic Arts. I have AP World History and IB DP History training. I have taught AP English Language and Composition. I also have experience coordinating Town Centre's IB MYP Personal Projects. I was responsible for managing TCPHS' alumni and social media strategy. I demonstrated commitment to integrating the latest technology into my classes by launching LMS and Cloud Computing solutions. At TCPHS, I created and implemented a school-wide strategy to encourage teachers to use this technology to enhance collaborative learning in TCPHS' BYOD environment. I have a range of experience outside of Pickering College as a Summer Academy Canadian History Teacher at The Bishop Strachan School and Crescent School. Furthermore, I taught Senior English with the TDSB in Summer School and Night School. My teaching and experiences have allowed me to teach students from ages twelve to sixty years old. I am always an active member of my school's community, having coached sports including: basketball, floor hockey, flag football, soccer and track and field. I also have extensive experience directing the annual school play and coordinating assemblies, such as the Remembrance Day ceremony and the school talent show.
