About Joshua Buonpane

As a graduate researcher at the Water Systems Analysis Group at the University of New Hampshire, I apply my expertise in ecology, hydrology, analytical chemistry, molecular biology, and GIS to study aquatic microbial communities and their influence on ecosystem processes. With over six years of experience in this field, I have developed strong technical skills in running water and sediment samples, DNA extraction, PCR, sequencing, microbial community analysis, and data analysis using Linux and R.In addition to my research, I have a passion for education and outreach. I have taught lab sections for freshwater resources and field dendrology courses, where I have created and delivered engaging and effective curriculum and assessments for college students. I have also worked as a naturalist, environmental educator, and snow sports instructor, where I have shared my enthusiasm for the environment and outdoor activities with adults and children of diverse backgrounds and abilities. Through these experiences, I have honed my soft skills in communication, collaboration, patience, and inspiration.
