Background
About Joshua Cotter
Ever since I stepped into the world of higher education teaching, I've been driven by one mission: to inspire and nurture the next generation of researchers. With a PhD focusing on Biomechanics and Muscle Physiology and a postdoctoral fellowship at the University of California, Irvine, where I utilized a translational approach to understanding the regulation of skeletal muscle mass during spaceflight, I've dedicated my career to academic research and mentoring in the areas of Exercise Science and Sports Nutrition. As a Fellow of the American College of Sports Medicine, I've had the privilege of contributing to this outstanding professional society. My journey has been filled with rich experiences, from conducting innovative research on how to combat the negative effects of space travel on the musculoskeletal and cardiovascular systems to understanding how we can increase all facets of human performance here on Earth. But what truly sets my heart on fire is the opportunity to mentor. I've had the honor of guiding numerous students in their research endeavors, witnessing their growth, and celebrating their accomplishments. I'm also a certified personal trainer and strength and conditioning specialist through the National Strength and Conditioning Association, which allows me to bring a practical perspective to my academic pursuits. In the end, it's all about making a difference. Whether it's through teaching, research, or mentoring, my goal is to contribute to the academic community, inspire the next generation of researchers, and advance our understanding of exercise science, sports nutrition, human performance, and overall health. Let's connect to see how we can work together!
