About Joshua Hertlein

Nearly twenty years of experience providing research and analytical support as well as project management and program coordination to both U.S. federal government laboratories and nationally accredited universities. During my time as a federal contractor, I provided direct support to the Department of Energy (DOE): National Energy Technology Laboratory (NETL) in Morgantown, WV, as well as to the Department of Energy headquarters in Washington, D.C. My support of DOE: NETL began when I was sought to assist a team in forming statistical models to provide production statistics used to monitor oil and natural gas flow from the Gulf of Mexico. My support continued in 2010 when I joined BCS, Inc, and it was during this time at BCS that my tasks broadened to DOE headquarters, providing support to the Office of Electricity Delivery and Energy Reliability (OE): Infrastructure Security and Energy Restoration (ISER). Additionally, I managed many of my own projects while providing support to federal clients and other government sub-contractors. Utilizing my experience learned in program and project management, I transitioned to a Program Coordinator for West Virginia University. My duties were focused on seeing the University’s College of Education renew its seven-year accreditation cycle through the national Council for the Accreditation of Educator Preparation (CAEP). During this role at the University, I became a nationally trained accreditation site visitor and volunteer to serve on accreditation review teams that report on teacher preparation programs to the national educator accrediting body, CAEP. Currently, I am pursuing a Ph.D. in Higher Education at WVU and using my expertise in teacher educator accreditation practices to research higher education accreditation and finance positioning. Throughout my professional career, I have acquired the following skills-Ability to apply engineering and scientific principles and techniques to cost estimating, cost control, business planning and management science, profitability analysis, project management, and planning and scheduling-Knowledge of engineering and scientific principles, theories and practices related to energy and environmental technologies-Ability to plan, organize, and manage technical, financial, and stakeholder aspects of commercial scale demonstration projects to produce successful results and outcomes-Skill in written and oral communication in order to present complex technical reports and information.
