About Joshua How

As a third-year student at McMaster University pursuing an Honours Biochemistry program, I am passionate about exploring molecular interactions in biological processes. Notably, my academic path has been enriched by experiences at both the Latulippe Lab and Karsan Lab, which have helped me develop a strong foundation in research and laboratory techniques. In the Karsan Lab, I developed expertise in foundational lab techniques and was exposed to cutting-edge research investigating molecular mechanisms of acute myeloid leukemia. This experience has not only expanded my biochemistry knowledge but also exposed me to fundamental values of collaboration and etiquette in a laboratory environment. In the Latulippe Lab, I had the opportunity to engage in the full scientific process. From designing experiments to preparing manuscripts for submission and presenting my research findings, this experience provided me with a comprehensive view of the research landscape. Moreover, this lab showed me the value of interdisciplinary experience. The project I worked on exposed me to the complex considerations of manufacturing therapeutics and provided me with a unique perspective of biochemistry. The holistic nature of the project has given me a broader perspective and underscores the interconnectedness of science. Outside of academia, I enjoy being an active member of extra-curricular activities. I am a frequent participant in McMaster University's intramural leagues, Nature at McMaster, and many other organizations in Hamilton. These roles provide an outlet for my dedication to community involvement and are equally as valuable to me as my academic journey.
