About Joshua Mortimer

Being a child of the 80’s I was enamored by early computer games and the endless creative freedom therein. By the age of 10 I had been given Borland Turbo C++ and a very thick user’s manual. I was homeschooled by my mother who had already begun to teach me not just fundamentals like math and history but also how to learn. How to teach myself what I wanted to know. How to acquire knowledge and put it to practice. After pouring over that enormous user’s manual and several more books from the library I started making games. Simple choose your own adventure text games along with other simple clones of games I had already played trying to add my own twist. Fast forward 20 years, several decent but completely emotionally and mentally unsatisfactory jobs along with dozens of interests explored, I found myself right back to that core desire to conceptualize and create. Having taken part in several mod projects over the years and having a few very basic skills Unity 3D presented an unprecedented opportunity to pursue a passion. In pursuit of that passion and using that knowledge of how to learn along with an endless curiosity of how things work I have been able to amass a skillset that allows me to function in many aspects of game design. Yes, I was the kid who read the Dictionary and World Book Encyclopedias, more than once.
