About Joshua Patrick

Programming has been a passion of mine for years, since the beginning of high school and the first time my dad taught me how to code in VisualBasic 2005. After I left college I got onto a 2-year software apprenticeship that helped me grow immensely as a developer, and became my opportunity to learn Kotlin, React, and Spring among other like-minded developers. As terrifying as that was for someone who just came from college with literally no professional experience, it aided me in developing my ability to work in a team via Agile and, through multiple events with apprentices, team members and other colleagues, has been a real boost to my social skills compared to when I had just started out. When I'm coding I really pride myself on my attention to detail and my commitment to getting something finished. I am very open to new technologies, and love to be working on what's new and shiny at the time. I get even more joy out of working on projects that are just a blank slate, because it means you have the chance to take risks and try something new. I believe that the way your team functions and its own dynamic is so important and I really enjoy getting to know my team, especially outside of work (love a team lunch!). During my apprenticeship I had many different scrum masters and leaders, each of them contributing so, so greatly to the developer that I am today: an open, positive and detail-oriented problem-solver.
