I began in doing NDE (Non Destructive Examinations) in refineries, pipe lines and power plants, Ive progressed in the inspection field by expanding my knowledge with certification classes for API 510 Pressure Vessel Inspection, NACE Lv1 Coatings inspection and NACE O-CAT (offshore corrosion awareness training for structural integrity). For almost the last 5 years ive work as a Contractor for Shell SepCo Division. With 2 years moving from shell platform to shell platform preforming API 510/570 internal/external inspection as well as rigorous CUI surveys as needed for the different assets provided if the budget was there as well as the room to accommodate the inspection crew available without interfering with run and maintain or any special needs the asset my require at any given time due to the limited bunk space available. The last 3 years i was assigned an Shell offshore asset to work on full time with a set schedule. At first it was to cover any upcoming or overdue inspections as well as fulfill any and all requirements the asset may need and/or requirements set for by the Coast Guard and/or Besee (government branch that regulates offshore drilling and production). Then as time past my inspection roll evolved greatly from not only just piping, vessels, psv and storage tanks but to inspection of all the structural components on the entire facility. Creating work orders for repairs to be preformed by either shell employees or the contractor construction crew. Checking CP protection on anodes for depletion on the hull and vessels and confirm they were working correctly. Inferred leak detection for fugitive emissions and documenting finding as well as creating repair plan to fix in a timely manner the followed shells risk ranking system. These were just a few of the items i performed a the lead PEI inspector for Shell SepCo Division, the list grew longer every year as well as the resources we had at our disposal to do it correctly.
