About Joshua Schaier

Since my graduation with a master’s degree in Library and Information Science at the University of Washington in June 2019, I have acquired the equivalent of approximately two years’ worth of experience as a professional archivist by means of volunteering at the Puget Sound branch of the Washington State Archives, King County Archives, and Washington State Jewish Archives. At the Washington State Archives, I was entrusted with the accessioning of important records, including negatives from the Bicentennial Oral History Project, and a project to process, collate, and accession records from the Bremerton Airport and marina. At the King County Archives, I was entrusted with answering research requests pertaining to property records through the usage of online and microfilm records. At the Washington State Jewish Archives, I have conducted oral history interviews with prominent members of the community, including a former past president of the society and a member of the University of Washington’s Board of Regents. I have also conducted outreach to repositories of Jewish artifacts around the country, conducted research and fact checking to aid in the construction of online exhibits, and created closed captioning and transcripts of oral history interviews.
