About Joshua Son

Man, who knew looking for an entry gig would be so difficult? Testing for anyone! Not sure where to start with this. My parents immigrated to the States decades ago with nothing but some clothes and a dream! They started up a small business and that's where I got my first introduction into product, by helping my mother sew late into the night and doing fittings on broadway costumes or navigating business situations with my father. I went on to pursue a bachelors in Pre-Med Biology, meaning no extra credit, no make ups, just four tests to nail it, and boy howdy, nail it I did. Even managed to publish a few papers after peer review! I then decided the field of medicine was not for me after shadowing a few doctors and seeing how it all works behind the scenes. So I moved up to Portland, OR to see what was next. Ran into the University of Oregon and was introduced into the world of athletic products with the guidance of Nike. I managed to snag a place as one of thirty and navigated my masters from insight to a ready for market product with my team. Late nights and daunting board member presentations, crushed it without as much as quiver on my lip when delivering. I got hit with a second small stroke of luck right afterwards and got a contract at Specialized Bicycle Components! Worked with the global team and was hands on with Product. Helped to launch new lines of apparel, guided shoots, and dealt with my fair share of logistics but like many others the shifting tides in the market forced me to have to step away. So after a few months of soul searching in Asia, I find myself here, looking for work. Eight (maybe more by now) months in, hundreds and hundreds of apps in. Not sure why I'm writing this, maybe a means to remind myself? It's like a cover letter no? A lot of thought but no love? Anyways, I'm going to keep kicking! I crushed not just one challenging degree, but two, I know recruiters don't care but I count them, I know what I can do. Detail oriented, a keen eye for detail, an athlete, and an artist. I have an eclectic social group, have overcome many obstacles, am comfortable in group or solo settings and am ever prepared for the tasks at hand. Guessing no one will ever read this, but if you do, I hope you're hanging in there too. Also, out there on the route to realizing your potential. So with that, be good to yourself, you go this.
