Why do you take Instagram so seriously?" That is a question I've gotten used to hearing after nearly a decade of being on the app. When I first joined Instagram in 2012, before the days of influencers and data-driven in-feed ads, I was captivated by the platform's ability to document my life through photos. Curating a visual narrative of my life as I moved through high school, then college, and now post-grad empowered me to tell my story in my own words and on my own terms. Photographing, editing, and copywriting appealed to my inner artist, and as Instagram expanded its features, engagement and growth metrics appealed to my analytical mind. While social media management is still an important "direct line" from brands to their customers, my affinity for storytelling has expanded my work into the broader realm of digital marketing. These days, I use a combination of industry research, metric recording, analysis, and visual design to tell the stories of multiple brands across multiple platforms. I work closely with clients to craft a message that is in their own words and reaches the audience that matters the most.
