About Josien Hendricksen

I have always been attracted to the ocean and sustainability. They somehow form the common thread in everything I do. After a broad start with my BSc Environmental Sciences I decided to dive deeper into the marine sciences with my MSc. I worked on different projects related to seaweed, seagrass and mangroves during my thesis, and internship on Bonaire. My passion for the ocean already made me sail across the Atlantic twice and I am looking forward to further explore the secrets and potential of our oceans. I combine sailing, science and education in my volunteer work for The Ocean Movement. It is important for me to make impact with what I do, be challenged and take new adventures, connect with people and find variation in my work. A student board year and my current work as researcher at Wageningen Social and Economic Research taught me important project management skills and made me realize how much I like networking, finding new collaborations and starting up new projects.
