About Joy Gallup

I am passionate about education and providing accessible learning opportunities that lead to success. I graduated from Grand Valley State University in 2002 with a Bachelor's Degree in English and a minor in Elementary Education. Teaching in Arizona for the first two years of my career opened my eyes to the necessity of a high quality education with a strong literacy focus. The students and families I served in Arizona did not speak English and suffered from severe poverty. Obtaining a literate status in either English or Spanish would have changed the lives of many of those families. This experience inspired me to pursue further education in the area of literacy and literacy instruction. Therefore, I earned my Master's Degree as a Literacy Specialist from GVSU. While earning this degree, I worked as a teacher and a Title 1 Coordinator. As a Title 1 Coordinator, I oversaw many of the grant processes that were required of the school district to remain in compliance. I provided support with data analysis and instructional delivery. While teaching and coaching, my interest in educational administration was piqued and I enrolled in Eastern Michigan Univeristy's Educational Leadership program. I graduated from this program in May, 2024 and have my certification as a Building Administrator. I am passionate about education and providing equitable, high quality educational experiences to all.
