About Joy George
I am a restorative facilitator, social researcher and healing-centered designer hailing from the Bronx, New York. I am graduate of Swarthmore College with a BA in Political Science and Black Studies with a Peace and Conflict Studies Minor who actively seeks to center the universal rights of the human in my activism and professional work. I have a strong desire to work towards the liberation and determination of marginalized populations and expressly do so with love. My interests include decolonization, Black Studies, human rights, conflict resolution, restorative, transformative and healing justice, and strategies to actualize self-determined BIPOC communities. It is my belief that truth-telling, transparency, self awareness, accountability, and embodied autonomy are necessary components of restorative community building. As we heal, we expand our capacity to heal our relationships and mobilize to envision stronger communities. Through my research on racial trauma and experience facilitating group processes for interpersonal and systemic change, I support healing-centered efforts for community development.
