About Joy Jiang

Hello! My Name is Joy Jiang, I am currently pursuing a double major in Political Science and Medical Anthropology, with a minor in Philosophy, Politics, and Economics (PPE) at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, I am determined to make a difference in the world of international law and policies surrounding foreign affairs and education. I am a dedicated and passionate student activist and community organizer, I have a proven track record of driving positive change through grassroots initiatives. My journey has been fueled by a strong commitment to promoting diversity, inclusion, and equity within educational institutions. I have strong attention to detail and time management skill and am an efficient communicator. Something I have the privilege of is being a student activist. This passion is due to the other factors of my identity such as being a woman and a first-generation college student. I find myself fighting for issues that are crucial to me and my peers since middle school, speaking at rallies and protesting for racial equity, gender equality, educational opportunity, environmental sustainability, and gun reform. I have continued my work as an organizer at UNC, where my team and I have been featured in AP News, ABC, local papers, and international media outlets. Being the outreach chair for Affirmative Action Coalition at UNC has allowed me to hone my event planning, public speaking, and outreach skills, enabling me to amplify the voices of underserved communities. When I'm not actively engaging in community-focused work, you can find me crafting delightful boba and tea beverages as a barista in the local boba shop in Chapel Hill. My passion for delivering exceptional drink experiences and providing friendly customer service has been an incredibly rewarding part of my journey. In addition to my professional pursuits, I enjoy playing volleyball, baking delicious treats, exploring new places through travel, capturing moments with photography, and nurturing green spaces through gardening. I'm always open to new connections and opportunities to collaborate on projects that align with my values and aspirations.
