About Joy King

As the President Elect of the Georgia Nurses Association (GNA), I am passionate about advancing the nursing profession and improving health care for all Georgians. I have a Fellowship in Integrative Health and Medicine from the Academy of Integrative Health & Medicine, a Doctor of Nursing Practice and a Master of Science in Family Practice Nursing from Georgia College & State University, and a Master of Business Administration in Health Care Administration from Western Governors University. I also am in the process of completing a PhD in Nursing from Georgia State University, where I am focused on conducting research on the effects of obesity in African American women in rural areas of Georgia. I have 9 years of experience as a Family Nurse Practitioner, currently working with CVS Minute Clinic, where I provide primary care services to diverse and underserved populations. I also have six years of experience as an Adjunct Faculty Member at Georgia College & State University, where I teach courses on medical surgical nursing and healthcare finance & economics. I have multiple skills in guest lecturing, higher education teaching, and primary care nursing, and I am committed to lifelong learning and professional development. My core competencies include advocacy, leadership, education, collaboration, and innovation. I aim to use my expertise and experience to support and empower the GNA members, the nursing community, and the health care system in Georgia.
