About Joy Mushamba

I am a qualified and registered social worker with a master's degree in child sensitive social policies and a postgraduate diploma in social work. I have a passion for promoting the well-being and rights of children and adults in vulnerable situations. In my most recent role as a project officer - Social Worker at Childline Zimbabwe, I provided comprehensive services to children in need, such as identifying their needs, developing care plans, and providing support to them and their families. I also coordinated services and resources for them and advocated for their welfare and security. Previously, I worked as a health promotion IEC officer at Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF), where I spearheaded the development and implementation of impactful health education campaigns to prevent diseases and promote healthy behaviors within the refugee community. I also carried out community outreach initiatives to raise awareness of mental health issues and cholera and disseminated crucial information on available health services and resources. Furthermore, I forged strategic partnerships with various organizations and stakeholders to design and deliver targeted health promotion interventions that catered to the unique mental health needs of the community. Additionally, I coordinated and facilitated comprehensive training sessions for community mental health workers and other stakeholders, equipping them with the necessary skills and knowledge to provide quality care and support. I have a proven track record of working collaboratively with interdisciplinary teams to achieve positive outcomes for my clients and the organizations I work for. I possess excellent communication, counseling, and advocacy skills, as well as a strong sense of ethics and professionalism. I am always eager to learn new skills and take on new challenges in my field.
