About Joy Wakefield

I have spent close to the last 13 years working with numbers and people. My background is in finance and I have always enjoyed working with budgets and spreadsheets but I didn’t come to realize how much I love to work with people until a little later in my career. Starting out as a project controls lead I became responsible for seven other team members with varying skills sets and motivations. Bringing those talents together to accomplish a singular goal I discovered was very challenging, yet the most rewarding task I would later accomplish. I found that the more people I helped, whether that is project managers, scientists, engineers, or team members, the more successful I became in my own endeavors. Since then I have spent my time teaching, mentoring, and collaborating with project controls professionals and beyond to meet the financial goals and metrics of projects, clients, and our company. I am passionate about team work, problem solving, goal setting, affirmations, and inspiring others to accomplish more than they believe possible for themselves.
