About Joydeep Sarkar

I am currently a Senior Director Legal, South Asia at Radisson Hotel Group (RHG) and head the legal team for Radisson Hotels ( South Asia). I am interested in the interplay of law with business and focus my energy and efforts towards balancing both interests i.e. business necessity in a compliant manner in my current role. I also like understanding the nuances of business and try and apply them in my role for achieving an objective and balanced outcome. At RHG I am part of strategic senior leadership team responsible for transaction management, corporate governance, business strategy, global policy integration, law enforcement management and litigation for South Asia. Prior to RHG I was an Associate General Counsel at InterGlobe Aviation Limited (IndiGo) wherein my responsibilities included leading negotiations on OEM contracts, aircraft acquisition, asset financing, advising on offshore financing facilities, exchange control related structuring, negotiating commercial term sheets for acquisitions, negotiating high value purchase contracts, engine maintenance contracts, engineering contracts, procurement contracts, liaising with regulators on policy issues etc. I have negotiated and closed high value contracts with global asset managers and regularly worked with foreign law advisors on a variety of cross border contracts especially asset financing, acquisition, offshore funding etc. Worked on financing of over one hundred aircraft. I have in the past as a Senior Associate with a blue chip firm and prior to that as an associate with another tier I firm have advised various clients on issues w.r.t. investments (strategic and financial), M&A, advice on financial services including on NBFCs etc. I have regularly provided bespoke advice to clients on issues concerning general corporate commercial laws including companies act, fema, general corporate matters, RBI issues and the like. I have advised clients with focus on investment in the education sector, clients wishing to set up captive NBFC including hand holding them in setting up their operations, advising clients in investment in the education sector etc.
