About Juan Puente

My name is Juan Puente, I am a Mechanical Engineer with 10 years experience in engineering design, manufacturing, and management in various industries. I hold a Masters Degree in Mechanical Engineering with a concentration in Thermo-Fluids and Control Systems from the University of Texas – Pan American now UTRGV and have passed my Texas Board of Professional Engineering Exam in Fall 2015. I began my career in the electronic industry designing plastic components using CAD (Pro-E) software for LG Electronics. These CAD drawings were turned into molds that produced the structural plastic components via the injection mold process at local suppliers. We evaluated and approved all samples entering the various markets in design qualification phases, as well as, provided technical support for all mass production phases. In 2012, I decided to make career change into the oil industry where I took on additional design process responsibilities for highly custom multistage projects in excess of $300M that lasted about two years from design to construction completion. I was responsible for taking input from the customer and regulations to design many of the HVAC (ventilation), mechanical, and piping systems for marine and offshore vessels. One of the blessings of working at a shipyard is you can head out to the yard and see your drawings being built. Communicate with Production on what benefits/difficulties they are having with the drawings. This has afforded me to see the constructibility of my designs. Since the downturn in the Oil & Gas in 2015, I have been focusing my efforts on commercial construction. I have been learning from the execution side as a project manager for plumbing/HVAC subcontractors and learning about the installation/commissioning of MEP systems.
