About Judith Black

In 2017 my son Tarik Black, then a player on the Lakers NBA team (now an international basketball player), and I launched a foundation to teach, inform and uplift youth. Through sports, fieldtrips, guest session leaders and other activities we have been providing innovative programs that have offered one-of-a-kind experiences. This has included connecting Memphis youth with youth studying in Tel Aviv, Israel for lessons in Social Justice Entrepreneurship. Our Global Sports Youth Tech Challenge partnered Memphis kids with kids overseas for a three-day hackathon. Transformation50 combined basketball and life skills training. Summer GLAM (Girls Life Academy Memphis) offers unique life training experiences for teen girls. We took a group of Houston, TX kids to see Black Panther and another group of Houston kids to a Clay Court Men's Tennis Championship. A fieldtrip for our basketball campers to the Huntsville Space and Rocket Center, was focused on learning the physics of basketball. Our Taking Back The Future Summer camp for middle schoolers focused on healthy habits, financial literacy, physical fitness and global education. This past summer's Hip Hop Summer Academy provided a group of boys the chance to learn how to use studio and editing software and the opportunity to write and film their own music and video. GLAM in Realtime is for our graduate girls to return and focus on early adulthood life. Tarik Black Foundation is about reaching young people where they are to teach them what they should know so they are well prepared to step into the future. This is my non-profit work. At the CarterMalone Group, my role is Vice President Public Relations. With over 30 years in marketing communications, I offer my expertise and understanding of the industry to provide clients projects, programs and campaigns that tell the story, enhance the brands, manage reputations and accomplish marketing communications goals.
