About Judith Gil
Dr. Gil has over 20 years of experience in the field of social work. She has direct experience with providing mental health treatment, clinical supervision, social work leadership and administration. Dr. Gil is currently the Deputy Director of Behavioral Health Services with the Health and Wellness Division of the Children’s Aid. In this role, she leads a team of mental health directors and supervisors across the division (community mental health services, foster care mental health, school based mental health and home and community based mental health services). She assists with development and implementation of overall strategic planning for mental health services and works closely with site staff at all levels to effectively comply with funding sources regulations, including grants and NYS OMH audit standards. As part of her commitment to the field of social work, Dr. Gil also serves as adjunct assistant professor with Columbia University Graduate School of Social Work, Fordham University’s Online MSW program and York College (CUNY) BSW and MSW program. She is responsible for teaching and training bachelor and masters level social work students. In this role, she shapes and builds the development of a new generation of social workers. She is extremely passionate, energetic and enthusiastic in her approach to teaching. Dr. Gil earned her MSW from Fordham University in 2007. Through the trajectory of her career, she has earned multiple professional certifications from social work programs across NYC (Hunter College, NYU and Columbia University) on practice, leadership and pedagogical strategies. Dr. Gil attained the Doctor of Social Work degree from the University of Pennsylvania’s School of Social Policy & Practice in 2018. Her research interests include teenage parenting, resiliency, educational attainment and positive life outcomes. Dr. Gil is a published author and has presented her research in social work conferences. She has served as an expert guest speaker on the topic of trauma and the stigma of mental health within the Latinx community. Dr. Gil has served as keynote speaker and has hosted social work workshops on mental health related topics such as trauma, adjusting to life after Covid 19, anticipatory grief, women’s resilience and the importance of raising awareness on mental health within the Latinx communities, particularly in New York City. She is passionate in her approach to the work and is committed to serving the community and shaping the future generation of mental health practitioners.
