About Judith Thom

I'm a Team Lead and Senior Test Engineer specialising in Manual Embedded Testing. I joined my current employer as 1 of 4 testers in 2014. Since then we've grown to over 16 testers, I helped define the Senior Tester role. Along that time I became highly experienced in the role of Software Analyst, eventually also defining the role, involved in the recruitment of the role and defining the senior position of the role. In 2019 I became a Team Lead, leading a team who specialises in testing medical devices/software, supporting clients in meeting 62304, supporting 13485 and passing FDA approval. I am confident in not only testing, but Analysis work such as requirements management, reviewing, suggesting new requirements and adjustments. Over this time I've built a highly successful embedded verification & validation team who, in 2019 were new to the business, since late 2019 my team has generated a revenue of over £3.5 Million, the highest in the company. I am familiar and very confident with tools such as Jira, Trello, LeanKit, Target Process, Mantis, Azure DevOps, Jama & TestRail. The nature of my work means it is essential to learn new tools and projects quickly. I also became a Trustee Director when we became Employee Owned in October 2019 and have gained EOT board and company board experience. My attitude towards work is that we all work together to achieve our goal; no one is above anyone else. Prior to working in software development I spent 12 very successful years working in education, in the age ranges of 4 years old up to adult (informal adult support as part of a local community project). The highlight of my educational career was joining Highfields Private School as a trainee studying my NVQ Level 3 in Early Years Care and Education and 9 years later being the Head of ICT, a year group tutor, teaching KS2, 3 & 4 ICT and KS3 & 4 Mathematics. I brought my experience in education to software, supporting Mission to Mars sessions, work experience and out reach activities. I studied for my degree whilst working full time, achieving a 2.1 in ICT, something I am extremely proud of.
