About Judith Wakefield

First, I must say, I thoroughly enjoy my job. Teaching teachers how to use technology in the classroom is a pleasure and a joy. It never occurred to me when I began my college years that I would be at a university teaching teachers. But, at UCO, I have found a great reward in the Education profession. I received my Bachelor of Science in Education and Master of Science in Guidance and Counseling degrees from Emporia State University in Emporia, Kansas. I received my Ph.D. in Educational Technology with emphases in computers and psychology from the University of Oklahoma. Education has been my “home” for a long time as I have taught grades 1-12 and higher education. My early interests were computer programming, authoring systems, and artificial intelligence. Currently, my interests are teaching teachers’ technology, instructional design, and bridging the national digital divide for students without equal access to computers and the Internet. While at UCO, I have written and co-authored two texts, presented at conferences and participated on many committees. In addition to teaching Technology for Teachers, I teach courses that prepare school librarians. I am the coordinator of the Technology for Teachers Advisory Council, a state wide group of classroom teachers, professors and administrators. The focus of the council is to continuously improve the Technology for Teachers course for teacher candidates.
