About Judy Bartee

I’ve heard that curiosity killed the cat, so imagine how grateful I am to have not been born feline! I have always been fascinated by things I saw but did not know. Books took me to places I had never been, animals taught me patience, teachers demonstrated the power of encouragement and the human condition showed me violence divides but compassion unifies. But it was the curious-but-not-a-cat side of me that discovered the winding path that would be my career trajectory. Many of my curiosities became passions, and in pursuing those passions I gained numerous skills that have helped build, develop and improve organizations and businesses that I have been associated with. A strong work ethic and interest in growing plants and animals mingled with a desire to demonstrate my leadership abilities led me to a degree in agriculture education. I was thrilled with the wide range of knowledge needed to complete this degree, and I found this would fuel all my future endeavors. I discovered many other passions along the way, and many other skills to be developed. Helping young people grow into community leaders, advocating for systemic change that is more inclusive for persons with disabilities, recruiting and retaining talented employees, developing strategies to create advantages for associations, among many others. Obtaining relevant certifications and being involved in professional associations improved my ability to perform in each position, but also fed my commitment as a life-long learner. My interests outside of work also helped me in my career. Reading, outdoor activities (often with my dog), cooking, the live music scene in Portland and traveling to the places that must be experienced are all important, as are my adult children. Each gives me personal satisfaction as well as perspective on the world, and what I dream it can be. I’m still curious, and I hope if you are curious about me, you’ll connect and learn what I can offer your organization.
